Week 7 Important Information!
Year Two Jumps
On this Thursday 5th September, the children will be taking part in their jumps event which will count towards their faction carnival points for the main event in Week 9. It is proposed that the Year Two students will be jumping from 11.30am down near the long jump pit on the oval, so if you would like to come and watch or help we would love to see you!
Year Two Throws
On the following Tuesday 10th September , the children will be taking part in their throws event which will count towards their faction carnival points for the main event in Week 9. It is proposed that the Year Two students will be throwing in the early afternoon on the oval. We ask that students come to school in their faction/sports uniform for this day.
School Photos
On Thursday the 12th of September, we have our annual OLC school photos. As this is normally our sports day, we are asking that the children come dressed in their full winter uniform (including their jumpers) and depending on your child's surname, they may have their family photos too. More information about family photos will be sent out via text message.
Operation Christmas Child
All the children in Year Two will soon participate in 'Operation Christmas Child' which is an initiative with the goal of packing shoeboxes full of little surprises to give to a children who may have never received a gift before. By participating in this our children will have a first hand experience aimed at building the school value of compassion.
Your child will be grouped with three other children to contribute and pack the shoebox. The cost to send a shoe box will be $2.50 per child. We are asking you to encourage your child to do something extra at home to earn the money that is needed to buy the item to put into the provided shoebox.
Please see below an example of the provided shoe box for Operation Christmas child:
Soon, your child will bring home a note which shows you what kind of items can be sent away in the shoebox. We are asking for all donations to be brought to school by Friday 13th September (end of week 8) please. It is very exciting for the children to share in this initiative which has been a part of the O.L.C. Community for the last 16 years.
There is no need to bring in shoe boxes, as we have been kindly donated them from The Samaritans Purse.
Thanks for your ongoing support,
Penny & Kristy
