Week 3 Term 1
Reading Homework
Tonight your child came home with a R.E.D. reading folder containing a home reader book in addition to their Think Mentals maths book. Please listen to your child read aloud each night for 10 minutes and complete the pages/chapters read tonight and sign it each night. Book level/difficulty ratings have been selected from information provided by your child's teacher last year. Please note that it is common for your child to find their book either too easy or too hard due to the long summer break and depending on how much reading has taken place during this period. Levels are likely to change over the next week as your child may not have yet individually read to their teacher to assess their current reading skills and needs. However, please feel free to come and see us or send an email if you have any queries regarding your child's home reading. Questions regarding the routine and focus areas of nightly reading and other homework requirements will be answered at the Parent Evening tomorrow night.
Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons are continuing this week. Please ensure that your child has a rashie (or tshirt) to wear in the pool or during break times outside. We are at the pool from 12 to 2pm where it is very hot. Some groups are in the outside pool and as you can imagine it is very easy to burn in this weather and with 1 hour 30 minutes in the water, sunscreen washes off.
Parent Information Evening
Our Parent Information Night is tomorrow starting at 6:30pm. We will commence with a meeting in the hall with Mr Wilkie, Father Ian and representatives from the P&F before returning to our class for class specific information. Please see me if you are unable to attend and would like further information.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards and God Bless,
Penny King and Kristy Hunt
