Welcome Parents

WEEK 1
Welcome to our Year 2H blog! We hope you have all had happy holidays and we look forward to getting to know your child/ children and yourselves throughout 2017.

Our theme for Term One is "WATER".
Be prepared to hear, see and learn lots of interesting facts, information and creativity throughout the term.

Our blog will be the main communication for any parent information over the coming year so please take the time to read our updates.

A few important things that you may be thinking about in regards to early organisation for our class
On the tray shelf as you enter the classroom you will find a Communication Book.  This is your place to write in how your child will be going home at the end of the day (eg: bus, pick up lane).

YOUR CHILDS SPECIALIST DAYS:
Monday- Music
Tuesday- Health
Wednesday- Indonesian
Thursday- Physical Education (Sport Uniform)and Library(Please bring their library bags on this day)
Friday – Keyboard Skills

Your child will also need to wear their sports uniform with their coloured faction sports shirt each Friday. If you have not yet purchased a coloured shirt from our uniform shop, the children may wear their shirt normal sports top for the first couple of Fridays.
To give the children time to settle into their new routines and expectations of Year Two Spelling and Math homework will not begin until Week 4, after the children have concluded their swimming lessons.  However, home readers will be available to borrow after our parent night in Week 2 so that we can explain the scanning system to you and your eager readers can begin their home reading practise.    Year 2 sight words will begin in Week 6.  Homework expectations will be discussed at our Year 2 parent night and if you have any questions please feel free to raise them that night.  The children may use their library bag for the homework folder or a separate folder can be purchased.

The fish that you will see on our door in the morning were coloured by your child (their name is on their fish) at our transition day last year.  There are some photos of them creating them…we bet they’ve grown over the holidays and please let them know that we can’t wait to see them all tomorrow!
Thank you for taking the time to read our first blog for 2017 and we look forward to a wonderful year of growth and learning with your children!

Kind Regards and May God Bless You
