Week 1 Term 2 2019

Welcome back to school everyone! I hope you all enjoyed some special family time over Easter and made the most of the beautiful April weather we had over the break. A few things to note as we begin this term: Spelling Homework The children will be receiving new spelling lists this week and you will notice that many of them have different coloured lists due to being in a new spelling group this term. If your child has the same coloured words they are repeating their previous spelling group to consolidate unknown sounds.  Please feel free to discuss any questions you have about their spelling or the synthetic phonics spelling approach (Diana Rigg PLD) we use at OLC.  We ask that you continue to use the yellow Look, Cover, Write, Check spelling pads most nights (aim for 3x or 4x week) for your child to write out their spelling and sight words or alternate with reading them out for your child to record on scrap paper or spell aloud back to you.   Maths Homework It is expected that Unit

Week 10 Term 1 2019

Week 10!  Wow what a term it has been!  So many new friendships made and strengthened, so much learning and so many events and fun we've had in 2K.  It has been a wonderful first term and I'm sure you are all ready for a holiday break at the end of the week. Thank you so much for your time to come in and discuss your child's progress with myself and Kristy over the last two weeks.  Please feel free to let us know if you would like to follow up anything else or have any other questions at all.  I will be sending home a an A3 overview sheet of all of of the sight words from Stage 1.1 to 3.2  to all students this week.  It is recommended by the PLD program that students should be around the level 2.1/2.2 stage in their personal reading and spelling sight words by this time of the year in Grade 2.  You will be able to see what level your child is up to by identifying what column their personal words are in.
