Week 2 Term 3

Here's to another brilliant start to the week as we drive into Term 3.  Today was a brilliant day of learning with lots of focus on spelling rules, persuasive texts, identifying an author's purpose, showing others what we know about arrays in multiplication and even a little time for some running practise in anticipation of the OLC carnival later this term.   FRIENDOLOGY We will be continuing to remind students about the elements of Friendology daily in class and explicit focus lessons each Friday this term.  I am asking if students could please bring in a soft teddy that will be used over the next few weeks for role playing scenarios as used by Dana, the creator of Friendology.  I ask that these are not 'special' teddies as they will be kept at school for the remainder of the term and not taken home daily.   REMINDERS - WEEK 2 Welcome Mass  - If you would like to join Fr Francis for his first mass at Our Lady of the Southern Cross Church this Sunday morning 3rd

Week 1 Term 3

Welcome back! Welcome back to Term Three! I hope you all had a lovely holiday and the students are feeling refreshed and renewed after their two week break.  I absolutely loved seeing all of the beautiful 2K kids back with wonderful stories about their holidays and they were so ready to settle in and get back into our learning and teamwork.   What's On This Term? English This term we are looking at a variety of topics.  Our writing focus this term will look at the persuasive text genre and what we can include in our own written texts to persuade the reader.  From what I have heard from our shared stories this week, we are already very experienced in trying to convince our parents many different things with many persuasive reasons including why we should stay up later, why our Mums and Dads should buy something special!  We will be continuing to do our daily reading groups and we will be focusing on the Comprehension aspect of our CAFE reading strategies, starting wi

Term 2 Week 10

Wow! We have nearly completed another amazing term in 2K!  There has been so much learning and growth - I am so very proud of every member our class who have put in so much effort and dedication to their learning this term.  It has been such a busy term and when I reflect on all of the topics and concepts we have learnt over the last twenty weeks this year, I am truly amazed by the students persistence and positive attitude they bring to school each morning.  You may have heard that our reward system for this term by following our class rules and showing consideration, care and kindness for others has been earning 'popcorn kernels'.  It has been a record-breaking term with the jar continuing to fill each day - with a bonus an a continual opportunity for us to develop our counting, addition and place value skills :) POPCORN PARTY This popcorn kernel collection has been in anticipation for the end of term POPCORN PARTY where we will celebrate with popcorn and a movie.  We will
