Writing Samples and Art Folio

This afternoon your child brought home their Writing Draft Book and Art Folio.
Please take the time over the holidays to sit down with your child and look at both.

On the inside cover of their writing books you will find 2 samples of their writing from the first week of school.  From reflecting on these, I set them their first writing goal for the term.  Giving your child one thing at a time to focus on in their writing has allowed them to focus and feel success in their writing.  All children reached their first writing goal at some point this term.  You will find a certificate in their book detailing their achieving and setting their next goal.

Celebrate how much their writing improved in their final piece of writing (Beach or Pool) compared with their first writing samples of the year.
In looking at your child's writing, try and focus on the things that they have improved on, rather than what they cannot yet do.  You will note that I have corrected minimal spelling errors as at this stage of the year it's important that they are writing without the worry about spelling errors.  Correct spelling is another skill that will develop.

Now that you are aware of your child's next goal, you may like to help them work towards it by giving them a holiday journal to write recounts of what they get up to in the holidays.  Remember just to focus your feedback on the one goal.

I hope you also enjoy looking at your child's art folio!

IN THE FIRST WEEK OF TERM 2, PLEASE RETURN BOTH THE DRAFT BOOK AND FOLIO FOR YOU CHILD TO CONTINUE THEIR LEARNING NEXT TERM.

Thank you for your efforts on Tuesday morning with the children's costumes for our Holy Week Prayer Service.  The Holy Week story concludes tomorrow morning at 9:00a.m. in the hall.  We will also be having our Easter Raffle after lunch tomorrow so keep your fingers crossed!

Wishing you all a happy and safe Easter Break!  I have loved teaching your children this Term and witnessing their growth in so many areas.
