Teamwork
We have been working on our teamwork skills in our classroom.  Working together, sharing ideas and collaboratively completing tasks are helping us to become better learners in 2H.
Length and Measurement in Maths
This week we have begun to focus on a new topic in Mathematics - length! We will be exploring how the length of objects can be measured using uniform units.  We will be developing our measurement skills and understanding of centimetres and metres.

Dinosaur Day
2M and 2H are looking forward to the special Dinosaur Dress Up Day. next week on Wednesday.  Please send in permission slips for the movie ASAP.  We are also hoping for a few more parent volunteers for the morning from 9-11 to help assist with some fun activities. Please let Kristy know via email or add your availability to the permission slip.  Your help is always welcome and appreciated!

Reading & Homework Folders
We are enjoying assisting the children to select a new reading book and/or discussing their home nightly reading choices each morning. Please continue encouraging your child to read aloud to you every night. Many students' reading goals are reading aloud using punctuation for expression and fluency.  Please also encourage students to stop and recognise new vocabulary and discuss meanings with them. Building vocabulary banks with more interesting words will help your child's oral language and also their writing.  Feel free to add new vocabulary that has been discovered to the comment section of the red reading log or on a post-it to allow us to also discuss these words with your child and share with their peers.

We are witnessing significant widespread growth and excitement towards reading within our classroom this term and would love to further develop the home school connection for your child by transferring their success and eagerness within classroom reading to a home setting for both learning and pleasure.

Mathletics & Reading Eggs - Ear Phone Buds
Last week your child resat a placement test in Reading Eggs to better align with their current reading ability.  Many students are also ready to begin using Reading Express and have also sat a new placement test to align with their current comprehension skills.  Please feel free to come and see us if you have any questions about the use of Reading Eggs/Express at home.

To facilitate our use of Mathletics and Reading Eggs, we would be happy for you to supply a set of ear phone buds, placed in a plastic snap lock bag and clearly labelled with your child's name. Some students become distracted during their learning by sound. As such, if you feel your child would benefit from less surrounding noise distractions we warmly welcome a set of ear phones. To safe guard such a purchase, the ear phone buds will be stored in your child's big draw and sent home at the end of the year. We believe individual ear phones are better from a hygiene perspective as oppose to a class set that are shared among students.

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards and May God Bless You
Penny and Kristy
