Assembly information

Good evening 2K parents,
I am so pleased to say that our first two days of swimming have been a huge success! We have managed to come to school prepared, work hard in the morning, eat and swim like super speedy champions, all before coming back and finishing the school day for the last half an hour.  The students have been very responsible with their belongings, making good choices and decisions about what to eat at recess and lunch break and have been showing their best OLC values while at the pool.  I'm so proud of them and their effort to 'just keep swimming' through our double lesson days. I'm sure they will be sleeping well over the next few nights!  I'll send through a blog post early next week of all of the learning too.

Assembly
Your child may have mentioned that we are starting to prepare and learn our items for our assembly over the last two days.  Our annual assembly performance is on next Friday 22nd March at 9.00 in the hall.  We will be showing the school how to fingerspell the alphabet in Auslan and singing a colours song in Auslan.  I have been teaching the students in 2K how to sign and am so proud of how quickly they have remembered so much and their interest in learning the language used by the deaf community.  We will also be singing a mathematics song about calendars and months of the year.  Being able to read days and dates on a calendar, knowing how many days are in each month, the order of the calendar months and the seasons is a part of the Year 2 mathematics curriculum which we will be learning over the next fortnight so this will be a great opportunity to share our knowledge to the school.

In terms of costumes, I am planning for the students to dress in clothing appropriate for the weather, activity or major event associated for their chosen month that they will represent.  For instance, February would be summer or beach attire, July could be winter woolies and December/April could be Easter or Christmas attire.  I only ask that they don't wear items that will cover their gorgeous faces.  Please feel free to chat with us if you have any questions at all about the assembly.  Here is the month for each student:
January - Harper Milla
February - Evie Oscar
March -  James R  Maddy
April - Daisy Max
May - Scarlett Stellan
June - Jay  Xavier
July - Elsie Tristan
August - Darcy  Isla
September - Allira Perri
October - Lyla Sara
November - Jackson Luka
December - LilyEve Oliver
Speakers - (free choice of what seasonal clothing) James H and Lakey

Parent Roster - Unfortunately our specialist times (such as music and Indonesian) have all been changed for the next two weeks due to the school swimming lessons throughout all the classes at school.  This means that it will be difficult to run morning literacy groups due to the students to them often not being in the classroom during different times before recess rather than our usual times in the afternoon and mid morning. We will draw up a parent roster late next week to start in Week Nine/April and know that we look forward to having an extra mind and hands to guide our little learners - help will always be welcomed!

Just a little reminder that I have an open-door policy so please feel free to look through your child's work anytime during gathering time and a chat after school if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your continued support and assistance.
Kind regards and God Bless,
Penny and Kristy
