Week 2 Term 4 2020

Dear Parents,

What a wonderful start to the final term we have had! This sunshine has a way of putting everyone in a good mood and the kids have loved getting out mid morning for our morning fitness in this glorious weather and to break up our jam-packed morning of reading, writing and spelling. The children have responded so well to our new InitiaLit Literacy program and I can already see some of the wonderful benefits of this program...including the 'suffix' song which the students have learnt that my ability to hit the high notes in songs is definitely not one of my strengths but the 'bossy e' rap is much more my dorky jam!  Feel free to click on the InitiaLit link in the previous blog for more information about this new literacy program we are trialling before full implementation next year.

New Student - This term we welcome Lexi Dearlove in our class as a new Year 2 student.  Lexi has settled in so well and has become a great addition to the 1/2K team.  Her sister Scarlett is in 4D and we welcome their parents Martin and Marie to the OLC community.

Week 1 Merit Award Winners - Congratulations to Tom who was the first merit award winner for this term and was able to celebrate with the first student only school assembly back in the hall in a very long time.  Tom has shown growing confidence to participate in partner and small group work and is a class member who contributes his ideas and amazing knowledge about the world.  I am so proud of what an independent and a collaborative worker Tom has become!

Homework - Just a little reminder that homework is due this Friday/tomorrow.

Thank you - Finally, a big big thank you for having your children to school on time. We have loved starting our day right on the bell while our brains are morning fresh with our new InitiaLit program and the children have enjoyed learning this new way.

Please feel free to continue to email us if you have any questions or queries.

Here's to another fun Friday and a lovely weekend,

Penny and Gemma
