Week 2 Term 3

Here's to another brilliant start to the week as we drive into Term 3.  Today was a brilliant day of learning with lots of focus on spelling rules, persuasive texts, identifying an author's purpose, showing others what we know about arrays in multiplication and even a little time for some running practise in anticipation of the OLC carnival later this term.

FRIENDOLOGY
We will be continuing to remind students about the elements of Friendology daily in class and explicit focus lessons each Friday this term.  I am asking if students could please bring in a soft teddy that will be used over the next few weeks for role playing scenarios as used by Dana, the creator of Friendology.  I ask that these are not 'special' teddies as they will be kept at school for the remainder of the term and not taken home daily.

REMINDERS - WEEK 2

Welcome Mass - If you would like to join Fr Francis for his first mass at Our Lady of the Southern Cross Church this Sunday morning 3rd August, beginning at 9am, we would love to see you there.

Mission Markets - These are held each year to coincide with the celebration of our Feast Day. The Feast Day celebrations and student markets will be held on Thursday 15th August.  The combined Year 2 classes will be running the pre-loved store so please start sending in those items that are unwanted such as books and toys that you think would be loved by another OLC child!  We would also love a couple of parent volunteers to help run the stall on the day.
On the Mission Markets day, students will come to school with a maximum amount of $5 in the junior primary years in small denominations - please put this in a wallet/purse or zip-lock bag. Please make sure these are clearly labelled. I also suggest that students possibly also need to bring in their own carry bag to use on this day.

Prayer Performance is next Friday 9th August

Homework - Students should be completing Unit 21 this week in their Mental Maths books.  I will continue to collect these every Friday this term and I thank you in advance for marking these daily alongside your child to enable them to receive immediate feedback.  Please continue to asterisk difficult concepts to inform me.  This week, please continue to listen to your child read aloud to you for 10 minutes each night and practise spelling each of their spelling words most nights either aloud or written in their yellow pads.
