REMINDERS - WEEK 7 Shoebox Donations  -  If you haven't done so yet, can you please send these items and also the $2.50 for postage costs in by the next Friday 7th September that would be greatly appreciated. This is a wonderful OLC tradition that is so worthwhile for our children to think of others.  We encourage students to do extra jobs at home to help collect the money and gift donation for children on the other side of the world.  Please feel free to see us if you have any questions or check the previous blog post for links to the Operation Christmas Child project. Book Week Dress Up  - This Thursday is our Book Week Dress Up day!  We ask that all students come dressed as a character from their favourite book ready to parade on Thursday after recess. Upcoming Events: Thursday 23rd August: School photos Friday 24th August: School photos for families and siblings Thursday 30th August: Book Week dress up day School Photos Our school photos will commence this Thursday 23rd and as it is usually our sports day, we are asking the children to come in full winter school uniform (including a school jumper), dress black shoes and hair accessories must be in school colours only (teal green, white or black)  and bring their sports shoes in their bag to change into after their photos in the morning.  Photo order forms for online ordering were delivered to the children on Friday. Welcome back to Term 3! I can't believe we have been back for a whole week already! It seems everyone had a lovely holiday break, be it either overseas and up north soaking up some warmth or some lovely time at home relaxing and spending precious family time together.  All the children have come back refreshed and ready for some more learning and fun! Homework Homework will continue as normal this term.  Please ensure your child is reading every night including ten minutes aloud to an adult to help develop expression and fluency (home or school book).  This is also a great opportunity to discuss new vocabulary and punctuation features. Mental maths books Days 1 to 4 completed by Fridays.  We also encourage nightly spelling of your child's phonic spelling list in their blue Look, Say, Cover, Write and Check mini-folder.  Please try to also include three or four extra tricky sight words to spell each night (these should be the sight word practice words noted...

UPCOMING EVENTS: MORNING TEA FOR MRS KNEZEVIC - tomorrow Friday 29th June: please send in a small plate of food in replacement of your child's recess and leave it on the small tables in the wet area/glass house tomorrow morning.  We will present the wonderful class gift from the parents (thank you!) and have an early morning tea at 10.30  PUPIL FREE DAY - Monday 16th July  Just a reminder that students return to school on Tuesday 17th July.   Wow - what a term!  I can't believe that we are halfway through the year!!! GRANDPARENTS DAY:  Grandparents Day was a huge success, we had so many loving grandparents come in to celebrate this wonderful OLC tradition. The day started with a beautiful prayer service dedicated to our  grandparents. The Final Week! It will be a another busy week in the final week of this short term.  Monday - Grandparents' Morning - 9.00am Mass, 9.30 morning tea, 10-11am classroom visits Friday - 1P Assembly performance and NAIDOC celebrations Friday - Thank you Mrs Knezevic morning tea in 2K at 10.30am Plus lots of learning and fun as usual! Friday 29th- thank you morning tea -   The last day of school this term will also be Mrs Sheree Knezevic's last day of teaching practicum.  To say thank you for all of her hard work, amazing effort teaching all of the 2K children over this term and congratulate her on completing all of her studies, I would love the children to have a special morning tea with her.  If you could bring in a small plate of food in replacement of recess on the last day, it would be greatly appreciated.
